This wildlife gorilla safari is an East Africa combined wildlife safari package offering visitors a chance to visit and explore two of the best safari destinations in Africa, that is the magical Kenya renowned for the Big Five and Great wildebeest Migration and Rwanda the land of a thousand hills and home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
On this safari, you will encounter all the members of the African Big Five (lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos and elephants) in savannah parks of Kenya; Lake Nakuru National Park, Amboseli National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve.
Another highlight of this safari is a face-to-face encounter with mountain gorillas in the jungle of Volcanoes National Park which is one of the only 4 places in the world where you will see these gentle giants in their natural habitat. This safari starts from Kigali City of Rwanda and ends in Nairobi City of Kenya.
On arrival in Kigali City at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a driver guide from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris who will give you a short briefing about the safari and embark on a drive of about 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, Kinigi.
Depending on the arrival time, you will have a short city visiting some of the fascinating tourist attractions in the city such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site, Kimironko Market among others. When you arrive Musanze, you will check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.
The next morning, you will head to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking and here a ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the jungle with mountain gorillas. You will be grouped into 8 people and be assigned one of the 10 habituated gorilla groups which you will trek.
After briefing, you will head to the starting point and enter into the forests to start searching for mountain gorillas. The trek through the forests of Volcanoes National Park takes about 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and their feeding range. When you locate the gorilla family allocated to, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching them play with each other, observe silverback protect their families, female gorillas taking care of their babies among others.
You are allowed to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off. Return to the park’s headquarters to meet your driver-guide and head to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will head to the Iby’Iwacu Village known as the Gorilla Guardians Village for an encounter with the local people and an insight about the local life style and traditions of the Rwandese people. You will be entertained by local dances and drama, take part in crowning of the King and Queen among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Early in the morning, you will have your leisurely breakfast, checkout of the lodge and head to Kigali City. You will be dropped off at the airport for your afternoon flight to Nairobi City. On arrival you will be picked up by your guide and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi City.

In case if you arrive in the park in lunch time hours, check-in at your booked hotel for lunch and then in the afternoon go for a game drive exploring the savannah grasslands and enjoying sightings of large herds of elephants among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Lake Nakuru National Park is a birder’s haven and the perfect place to see rhinos and Rothschild giraffes. The park is renowned for hosting both black and white rhinos in large numbers and large flocks of flamingoes on the shores.
You will arrive in the park in time for lunch and then go for a game drive searching for wildlife including Rothschild giraffe, rhinos (both black and white rhinos), zebras, elands among others. Along the shores of Lake Nakuru, you will spot large flocks of flamingoes, cormorants, herons among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Masai Mara National Park the premier wildlife safari destination in Kenya and Africa as well. From Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Park, it is approximately 3-4 hours and you will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge.

After breakfast, you will head to the endless plains of Masai Mara National Reserve for full day of exploring the park with your packed lunch boxes for picnic lunch which will be set along the banks of Mara River or at any picnic site in the park.
During the game drives, you will enjoy watching the scenic views of the endless landscape and seeing animals such as wildebeests migrating to Serengeti region, Quagga, elephants, rhinos, leopards, African buffalo, waterbucks, cheetahs, oribis, giraffes and various bird species such as grey kestrel, grey headed kingfisher, hadeda Ibis, Kori Bustard among others. In the evening return to the lodge for dinner and sleepover.
Have a leisurely breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Nairobi city where you will be drop-off either at your hotel or at the Airport for your onward flight back home.
